Well, we're a month into 2011 and so far I have to say it's going well for me. I had a break from my 8-to-5 job between Christmas and the New Year and it was quite invigorating! Okay, maybe not at the time . . . . I mean, I sat around in my pajamas most days . . . but for me that seems to be what's needed to get my head around things, and get rested enough to take on the rest of my life. The calm before the storm?? Whatever.
The first thing that's going well is that I'm taking my health into my hands once again. I've done this several times over the past 10 years or so, but it seems like I can't or haven't put it on auto-pilot once I'm there -- then I proverbally fall off the wagon and have to get back on!! I had a chat with my mom last week, and we're both sick of feeling like we're always "trying to lose weight" and want to just be at a stage where we're healthy, and able to consistently maintain our weight and body condition. I mean, getting older doesn't mean we're going to stay the same . . . but get to a point where we "get" what works for us and what doesn't, and simply remember it every day. It's definitely not easy -- but I guess I've always believed you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others, so it does go hand-in-hand with that.
Another thing that is going well for me is my relationships. Well, I will confess that it bothers me that my kids are consistently getting further and further from the nest . . . and that takes some adjustment. It's hard to figure out how to be significant in their lives (and they in mine) without feeling like I'm losing touch. As for work, I'd say it's going well. It's just 'regular' right now and not necessarily always a challenge, but I'm good with that at this point. And my husband --- well that's going well too. I still don't know exactly where it's going but I'm leaving it up to fate, having faith that things will happen as they should.
We're getting ready to put our house on the market again, and quite honestly I'm so ready for it to be sold. I want to move so I can carry on with this life and be engaged once again. Being in a lull isn't comforting and doesn't give me the warm fuzzies, I'm usually happier working toward something, a goal. So while moving and establishing a new household will be a lot of work, I'm quite looking forward to it!
Today the weather is warming after almost a week of very very cold temperatures. These are the days that make me glad I live in Saskatchewan -- the days when the sun shines through and even better days are to come!
