Well here we are in the middle of the year already. Since my last post I've been busy still . . . still working on the garage, still have a man in my life, but I did get my son's grad over with!! He's not out and on his own yet (he has technical school he's attending in the fall) but it's good that he's done high school and moving onto the next chapter of his life. And my daughter is settled into her life with her boyfriend, in her own place with a job. Some days I miss being "the mom" who handles everything, but at the same time it's such a relief to not have to do that. It's the way life progresses I guess! I always thought about the fact that I'd be so young when my kids were grown and away from home, and now here it is.

So then, I seem to be deeply engulfed in the next chapter of my life. Then again, are there definite chapters? How do you know when one ends and the next begins?? I guess I did have a definite ending not long ago . . . . the divorce from my former husband. I have to say HOW GOOD that felt, to have closure after more than two years of uncertainty. I can handle some floating along and being spontaneous, but when it comes to the major relationship in your life, being uncertain isn't at all comforting!!! So having that piece of paper that says it's over, it's done, and you don't have to think about it anymore -- well that's like a sheet of gold.

So this new chapter and new man seem to be suiting me well. I have to admit that at first I really wasn't sure -- and some days I still question myself -- whether I was ready for someone else to take the spot of "the one" . . . the person I rely on for so many things. And I'm not talking about muscle, or for tasks, or to do stuff for me. I mean the person that has my heart, that I can tell anything. The person I can rely on to tell me the truth (good or bad) and to tell me I'm beautiful even when I don't think so. The person who asks me what I need or what he can do for me in the middle of absolutely nothing. The person who seeks me as much as I seek him. As much as it's scary, it's such a good thing. BALANCE.

I commented on my facebook page a couple weeks ago, telling my son to go forward and not doubt himself . . . that doubt is what holds us back. Early on in this new relationship I doubted lots of things -- whether we could handle the distance between where we live, if my kids and family would like him, if I even wanted to have someone in my life yet. And we both agreed that we had to throw that aside and just go with it . . . see where it goes. It's work to juggle things at times but it seems to be going just fine.

So even though the year is half gone and so much has changed over the past little while, I feel like my life is balanced and going just the way it should. I still have faith that I'll make the best of what comes along and enjoy the ride!!
